The Oklahoma City Supersonics?

After 41 seasons in Seattle, the Sonics are relocating in Oklahoma City? What in the name of Jack Sikma is going on? No public contributions towards a new arena is one of the biggest reasons. The Sonics defeated the Dallas Mavericks Sunday in what will undoubtedly be the last game played at Seattle's Key Arena. At least, a few NBA notables said they think the Sonics belong in Seattle. Dallas owner Mark Cuban said, "I'm trying to stand up and say I don't think moving is the best choice." Mavs guard Jason Terry, who is from Seattle, wore green and black before and after the game in honor of his hometown team. "Seattle without basketball? We love the Mariners, we love the Seahawks, but the Sonics are always in our hearts. I don't know if it's a money issue or they need a new arena, but Key Arena is fine with me. If I was the owner, I would keep them here." The Oklahoma City Supersonics sounds almost as weird as the Indianapolis Colts sounded to all of us when they left Baltimore. No offense Oklahoma but imagine these team names; The El Paso Spurs, the Richmond Redskins or the Fargo Brewers. Strange, huh? Chime in NBA fans!

Mark Cuban doesn't want an NBA team in OKC whether it's the Sonics or anybody else because he doesn't want the competition and he feels it will cut into his fan base and ultimately his revenue. His reasons are purely selfish, he is not trying to help Seattle, only himself.
I think the OKC Sonics sounds perfect. Just one block west of the Ford Center in OKC is the national headquarters for the Sonic Corporation. The OKC Sonics is a perfect fit!

Very true - obviously Cuban doesn't want his fan base touched. I do have a few questions though - Will the team logo be a foot-long chili cheese coney or an onion ring? Will all games have happy hour on beer slushes? Will the pretzel vendors serve you on roller skates? And, finally, will the arena replace their current sound system with crappy metal a.m. radio sounding devices that hurt your ears?
